(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي خُبَيْبُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ مَسْعُودِ بْنِ نِيَارٍ قَالَ : أَتَانَا سَهْلُ بْنُ أَبِي حَثْمَةَ فِي مَسْجِدِنَا ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا خَرَصْتُمْ فَخُذُوا وَدَعُوا : دَعُوا الثُّلُثَ ، فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجُدُّوا أَوْ تَدَعُوا فَالرُّبُعَ " .
Abdur Rahman bin Mas'ud says that once Sayyiduna Sahl bin Abi Hathmah came to our mosque and narrated this hadith: The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: When you harvest fruit, take some and leave some; leave about one third. If you cannot do that, then leave one fourth.
