It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once I submitted in the court of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him): O Messenger of Allah! Upon whom do the severest trials come? He replied: “Upon the Prophets (peace be upon them), then in order of rank upon the rest of the people. A person is tested according to the strength of his religion; if his religion is strong, his trials are increased, and if there is weakness in his religion, his trials are lightened. And trials continue to befall a person until, when he walks upon the earth, there remains no sin upon him.”
