حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ وَعَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَا : أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْكَرِيمِ بْنُ أَبِي الْمُخَارِقِ ، أَنَّ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ مَالِكِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ أَخْبَرَهُ - وَقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ : مِنْ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ - أَنَّ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ قَيْسٍ مَوْلَى سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ مِنْ بَنِي سَاعِدَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ، أَنَّ سَهْلًا أَخْبَرَهُ : أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بَعَثَهُ، قَالَ: «أَنْتَ رَسُولِي إِلَى أَهْلِ مَكَّةَ ، قُلْ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ﷺ أَرْسَلَنِي يَقْرَأُ عَلَيْكُمُ السَّلَامَ ، وَيَأْمُرُكُمْ بِثَلَاثٍ : لَا تَحْلِفُوا بِغَيْرِ اللَّهِ، وَإِذَا تَخَلَّيْتُمْ فَلَا تَسْتَقْبِلُوا الْقِبْلَةَ، وَلَا تَسْتَدْبِرُوهَا ، وَلَا تَسْتَنْجُوا بِعَظْمٍ وَلَا بِبَعْرَةٍ»
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sahl that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent him and said: "You are my envoy to the people of Makkah. Go and convey this message to them: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) has sent me to you, he sends you greetings of peace, and he commands you with three things: Do not swear by anyone other than Allah; when relieving yourselves, do not face or turn your back to the Qiblah; and do not use bones or dung for istinja (cleaning after relieving oneself)."
