It is narrated from Sayyiduna Tariq that when a person would come to the Prophet (peace be upon him) and say, "O Messenger of Allah! When I supplicate to my Lord, what should I say?" the Prophet (peace be upon him) would say: "Say: O Allah, forgive me, have mercy on me, guide me, and provide for me." After that, he (peace be upon him) extended his thumb and folded the remaining four fingers, and said: "These things are comprehensive for both this world and the Hereafter."
