(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ كَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ حِينَ أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى فِي الشِّعْرِ مَا أَنْزَلَ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى قَدْ أَنْزَلَ فِي الشِّعْرِ مَا قَدْ عَلِمْتَ ، وَكَيْفَ تَرَى فِيهِ ؟ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ الْمُؤْمِنَ يُجَاهِدُ بِسَيْفِهِ وَلِسَانِهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ka'b bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) that when Allah revealed His command regarding poetry, he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "Allah has revealed things about poetry which I have already done. Now what is your opinion about this?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A Muslim strives with both his sword and his tongue."
