(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : عَنْ عَبْدِ رَبُّه ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَأْمُرُ بِقَتْلِ الْحَيَّاتِ كُلِّهِنَّ ، فَاسْتَأْذَنَهُ أَبُو لُبَابَةَ أَنْ يَدْخُلَ مِنْ خَوْخَةٍ لَهُمْ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَرَآهُمْ يَقْتُلُونَ حَيَّةً ، فَقَالَ لَهُمْ أَبُو لُبَابَةَ : أَمَا بَلَغَكُمْ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ " نَهَى عَنْ قَتْلِ أُولَاتِ الْبُيُوتِ وَالدُّورِ ، وَأَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ ذِي الطُّفْيَتَيْنِ وَالْأَبْتَرِ " .
Nafi' reports that Sayyiduna Ibn Umar used to order the killing of all kinds of snakes, until one day Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah sought permission to enter the mosque through his window and saw that they were killing a snake. Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah narrated to them this hadith: that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade killing the snakes that live in houses, and ordered the killing of the striped and short-tailed snake.
