(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَقُولُ : " اقْتُلُوا الْحَيَّاتِ ، وَاقْتُلُوا ذَا الطُّفْيَتَيْنِ وَالْأَبْتَرَ ، فَإِنَّهُمَا يَلْتَمِعَانِ الْبَصَرَ ، وَيَسْتَسْقِطَانِ الْحَبَلَ " . قَالَ : فَكُنْتُ لَا أَرَى حَيَّةً إِلَّا قَتَلْتُهَا ، حتى قَالَ لِي أَبُو لُبَابَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُنْذِرِ : أَلَا تَفْتَحُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكَ خَوْخَةٌ ، فَقُلْتُ : بَلَى , قَالَ : فَقُمْتُ أَنَا وَهُوَ فَفَتَحْنَاهَا ، فَخَرَجَتْ حَيَّةٌ ، فَعَدَوْتُ عَلَيْهَا لِأَقْتُلَهَا ، فَقَالَ لِي : مَهْلًا ، فَقُلْتُ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِهِنَّ ، قَالَ : إِنَّهُ قَدْ نَهَى عَنْ قَتْلِ ذَوَاتِ الْبُيُوتِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Umar that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: "Kill every snake, especially the striped snake and the snake with a cut tail, because both of these cause miscarriage and loss of eyesight." Therefore, whenever I saw a snake, I would kill it. One day, Sayyiduna Abu Lubabah or Yazid bin Khattab saw me chasing a snake to kill it, and I told them that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had ordered their killing. So they said: "Afterwards, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade killing the snakes that live in houses."
