(حديث موقوف) حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ رَبِّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي الزُّبَيْدِيُّ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ , أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ يُقَصُّ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَلَا أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، وَكَانَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ قَصَّ تَمِيمٌ الدَّارِيُّ ، اسْتَأْذَنَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ أَنْ يَقُصَّ عَلَى النَّاسِ قَائِمًا ، فَأَذِنَ لَهُ عُمَرُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Yazid that in the blessed era of the Prophet (ﷺ) and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr As-Siddiq, there was no custom of delivering sermons. The first person to deliver sermons was Sayyiduna Tamim Dari. He sought permission from Sayyiduna Umar to stand among the people and deliver sermons, and Sayyiduna Umar granted him permission.
