(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلٌ , عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ , أَنَّ عَامِرَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ قَالَ : رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يُسَبِّحُ وَهُوَ عَلَى الرَّاحِلَةِ وَيُومِئُ بِرَأْسِهِ قِبَلَ أَيِّ وَجْهٍ تَوَجَّهَ ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَصْنَعُ ذَلِكَ فِي الصَّلَاةِ الْمَكْتُوبَةِ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna 'Amir that I saw the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) during a journey, performing voluntary prayers on his mount by gesturing with his head, regardless of which direction the mount was facing. However, he did not do so in obligatory prayers.
