(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا زَبَّانُ بْنُ فَائِدٍ , عَنْ سَهْلٍ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " أَلَا أُخْبِرُكُمْ لِمَ سَمَّى اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ خَلِيلَهُ الَّذِي وَفَّى ، لِأَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ كُلَّمَا أَصْبَحَ وَأَمْسَى فَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ حِينَ تُمْسُونَ وَحِينَ تُصْبِحُونَ سورة الروم آية 17 حَتَّى يَخْتِمَ الْآيَةَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Mu'adh that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shall I not tell you why Allah gave Ibrahim the name of His Khalil, the one who fulfilled the promise? It is because he used to recite every morning and evening: "So glorify Allah when you enter the evening and when you enter the morning," etc.
