It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that on the day of the Battle of Badr, my brother Umair was martyred and I killed Sa’id bin ‘As and took his sword, which was named «ذَاالْكَتِيفَةِ». I brought that sword to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Go and put this sword in the spoils of war.” No one except Allah knows the grief I felt over my brother’s martyrdom and the thought of acquiring the spoils of war. I had only gone a little distance when Surah Al-Anfal was revealed, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Go and take your sword.”
