Hadith 1554

Hazrat Saeed bin Musayyib (may Allah have mercy on him) says that once I asked Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) about bad omens, so he scolded me and said: Who narrated this hadith to you? I did not consider it appropriate to mention the name of the person who had narrated this hadith to me. He said that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “No disease is contagious, there is no reality in bad omens or in a skull coming out of a grave. If there were any ill-omen in anything, it would be in a horse, a woman, and a house. And when you hear of a plague spreading in a region, do not go there, and if you are in a region where a plague breaks out, do not flee from it.”
