It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’ib bin Abdullah that on the day of the conquest of Makkah, I was presented before the Prophet (peace be upon him). Those who brought me were Sayyiduna Uthman and Zuhair. They began to praise me. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Do not tell me about their attachments; they have been my companions in the time of ignorance. I said: O Messenger of Allah! And you were the best companion. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: Sa’ib, see that the morals you used to observe in the time of ignorance, maintain them also in the state of Islam: hospitality, honoring the orphan, and treating the neighbor well.
