It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abi Hadra that a Jew had a debt of four dirhams upon him. The Jew began to treat him unjustly and harshly, and once even said in the presence of the Prophet, "O Muhammad, this man owes me four dirhams but does not pay me and has overpowered me." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to me, "Pay his due." I replied, "By the One who sent you with the truth, I do not have the means to pay." The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, "Pay his due." I said, "By the One who sent you with the truth, I do not have the means, but I have heard that you are going to send us to Khaybar. I hope that we will obtain spoils of war from there, and when I return, I will pay off the debt." The Prophet (peace be upon him) again said, "Pay his due." It was the blessed habit of the Prophet (peace be upon him) that when he instructed something three times, he would not insist further. Seeing this, I went with the Jew towards the market. I had a turban on my head and a lower garment on my body. I took off the turban from my head and tied it around my waist in place of the lower garment, and took off the lower garment and said to him, "Buy this sheet from me." He bought that sheet from me for dirhams. Meanwhile, an old woman passed by and said, "O companion of the Prophet (peace be upon him), what has happened to you?" I narrated the whole incident to her. Upon this, she said, "Take this sheet," and she took off an extra sheet from her body and put it on me.
