(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُوَيْسٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُرَحْبِيلٌ , عَنْ عُوَيْمِ بْنِ سَاعِدَةَ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُ , أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَاهُمْ فِي مَسْجِدِ قُبَاءَ , فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى قَدْ أَحْسَنَ عَلَيْكُمْ الثَّنَاءَ فِي الطُّهُورِ فِي قِصَّةِ مَسْجِدِكُمْ ، فَمَا هَذَا الطُّهُورُ الَّذِي تَطَّهَّرُونَ بِهِ ؟ " , قَالُوا : وَاللَّهِ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا نَعْلَمُ شَيْئًا , إِلَّا أَنَّهُ كَانَ لَنَا جِيرَانٌ مِنَ الْيَهُودِ ، فَكَانُوا يَغْسِلُونَ أَدْبَارَهُمْ مِنَ الْغَائِطِ ، فَغَسَلْنَا كَمَا غَسَلُوا .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Uwain bin Sa‘idah that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us at the mosque of Quba and said: Allah has greatly praised your purification in the matter of your mosque. What is the method that you adopt for purification? The people of Quba replied: O Messenger of Allah! By Allah, we do not know anything except that some of our neighbors are Jews, and they wash their private parts with water in the toilet. Seeing them, we also started using water.
