Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah رضي الله عنه reports that once the people of Kufa complained to Sayyiduna Umar Farooq رضي الله عنه about Sayyiduna Sa’d رضي الله عنه, saying that he does not lead the prayer properly. Sayyiduna Umar رضي الله عنه asked him, and he replied, “I make the first two rak’ahs relatively long and the last two rak’ahs shorter, and in following the prayers I performed behind the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم, I do not fall short in any way.” Sayyiduna Umar رضي الله عنه said, “That is exactly what I expected from you.”
