(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو التَّيَّاحِ ، قَالَ : سَأَلَ رَجُلٌ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ خَنْبَشٍ ، كَيْفَ صَنَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ كَادَتْهُ الشَّيَاطِينُ ؟ قَالَ : جَاءَتْ الشَّيَاطِينُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الْأَوْدِيَةِ ، وَتَحَدَّرَتْ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الْجِبَالِ ، وَفِيهِمْ شَيْطَانٌ مَعَهُ شُعْلَةٌ مِنْ نَارٍ ، يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُحْرِقَ بِهَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : فَرُعِبَ ، قَالَ جَعْفَرٌ : أَحْسَبُهُ قَالَ : جَعَلَ يَتَأَخَّرُ ، قَالَ وَجَاءَ جِبْرِيلُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام ، فَقَالَ : يَا مُحَمَّدُ , قُلْ , قَال : " مَا أَقُولُ " , قَالَ : قُلْ : " أَعُوذُ بِكَلِمَاتِ اللَّهِ التَّامَّاتِ الَّتِي لَا يُجَاوِزُهُنَّ بَرٌّ وَلَا فَاجِرٌ ، مِنْ شَرِّ مَا خَلَقَ وَذَرَأَ وَبَرَأَ ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا يَنْزِلُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا يَعْرُجُ فِيهَا ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا ذَرَأَ فِي الْأَرْضِ ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ مَا يَخْرُجُ مِنْهَا ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتَنِ اللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ كُلِّ طَارِقٍ إِلَّا طَارِقًا يَطْرُقُ بِخَيْرٍ ، يَا رَحْمَنُ " فَطَفِئَتْ نَارُ الشَّيَاطِينِ ، وَهَزَمَهُمْ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ .
Abu Tiyah says that I asked Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Khunbash, who was extremely old, "Did you meet the Prophet (ﷺ)?" He said, "Yes." I asked, "What incident happened with the Prophet (ﷺ) on the night of the jinn?" He replied, "That night, jinn descended from various valleys and ravines to the Prophet (ﷺ), and among them was a devil who had a flame of fire in his hand, intending to burn the face of the Prophet (ﷺ). Meanwhile, Sayyiduna Jibreel descended from the sky to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said, 'O Muhammad, say.' The Prophet (ﷺ) asked, 'What should I say?' He said, 'Say: I seek refuge in Allah’s perfect and complete words from the evil of all that He has created, brought into existence, and made manifest; from the evil of all that descends from the sky and ascends to it; from the evil of the trials of night and day; and from the evil of every visitor at night except one who comes with good, O Most Merciful.' The Prophet (ﷺ) said: As soon as I recited these words, their fire was extinguished and Allah defeated them."
