(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، حَدَّثَنِي مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، وَلَا أَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا عَنْ نَافِعِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَارِثِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : دَخَلَ حَائِطًا مِنْ حَوَائِطِ الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَجَلَسَ عَلَى قُفِّ الْبِئْرِ ، فَجَاءَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ يَسْتَأْذِنُ ، فَقَالَ : " ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ " ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ عُمَرُ يَسْتَأْذِنُ ، فَقَالَ : " ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ " ، ثُمَّ جَاءَ عُثْمَانُ يَسْتَأْذِنُ ، فَقَالَ : " ائْذَنْ لَهُ وَبَشِّرْهُ بِالْجَنَّةِ ، وَسَيَلْقَى بَلَاءً " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Nafi that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered a garden in Madinah Munawwarah and sat on the edge of a well, letting his feet hang into the well. In the meantime, Sayyiduna Abu Bakr came and sought permission to enter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Grant him permission to enter and give him the glad tidings of Paradise. After a little while, Sayyiduna Umar came and sought permission to enter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Grant him permission to enter and also give him the glad tidings of Paradise. After a little while, Sayyiduna Uthman came and sought permission to enter. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Yes, grant him permission to enter and give him the glad tidings of Paradise along with a calamity.
