Hadith 15336

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَخِي ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ , قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عُرْوَةُ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّ عِيَاضَ بْنَ غَنْمٍ ، وَهِشَامَ بْنَ حَكِيمِ بْنِ حِزَامٍ مَرَّا بِعَامِلِ حِمْصَ ، وَهُوَ يُشَمِّسُ أَنْبَاطًا فِي الشَّمْسِ ، فَقَالَ أَحَدُهُمَا لِلْعَامِلِ : مَا هَذَا يَا فُلَانُ ؟ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى يُعَذِّبُ الَّذِينَ يُعَذِّبُونَ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا " .
Once, in Homs, Sayyiduna Ibn Hazam passed by some dhimmis who had been made to stand in the sun. He asked, "What is the matter with these people?" The people replied, "They owe some taxes." (Because they could not pay, they were being punished in this way.) He said, "Iyad, what is this?" I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Allah Almighty will punish those who punish people on the Day of Resurrection.
