(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا بَهْزٌ , حَدَّثَنَا مُثَنَّى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا طَلْحَةُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ , عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَخَذَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى مَنْزِلِهِ , فَلَمَّا انْتَهَى قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ غَدَاءٍ ؟ " أَوْ " عَشَاءٍ " شَكَّ طَلْحَةُ ، قَالَ : فَأَخْرَجُوا فَلْقًا مِنْ خُبْزٍ , قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ أُدْمٍ ؟ " ، قَالُوا : لَا , إِلَّا شَيْءٌ مِنْ خَلٍّ ، قَالَ : " أَدْنِيهِ , فَإِنَّ الْخَلَّ نِعْمَ الْأُدْمُ هُوَ " ، قَالَ جَابِرٌ : مَا زِلْتُ أُحِبُّ الْخَلَّ مُنْذُ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَقَالَ طَلْحَةُ : مَا زِلْتُ أُحِبُّ الْخَلَّ مُنْذُ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ جَابِرٍ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) took my hand and as we walked together, we reached a certain room. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Do you have anything to eat?" They brought some bread and placed it on the dining cloth. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked, "Do you have any condiment?" They replied, "We have a little vinegar." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Bring that, for vinegar is the best condiment." Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) says, "Since I heard this hadith from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I have liked vinegar."
