Umar bin Sa’d says that once his brother ‘Amir went out from Madinah Munawwarah to visit Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) at his goat farm. Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him) said to him: “Son! Do you want me to become the leader of rebellious activities? By Allah! It cannot happen that a sword is placed in my hand and I kill a believer with it and the news of it spreads, and if I kill a disbeliever with it, he too will attack because of it. I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say: ‘Allah loves the servant who is pious, self-sufficient, and keeps himself hidden.’”
