Hadith 15287

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ , حَدَّثَنَا الْمُبَارَكُ , حَدَّثَنِي نَصْرُ بْنُ رَاشِدٍ , عَمَّنْ حَدَّثَهُ , عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ , قَالَ : تُوُفِّيَ رَجُلٌ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ بَنِي عُذْرَةَ , فَقُبِرَ لَيْلًا , " فَنَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُقْبَرَ الرَّجُلُ لَيْلًا حَتَّى يُصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ , إِلَّا أَنْ يَضْطَرُّوا إِلَى ذَلِكَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), a man from Banu Udhrah passed away. The people buried him during the night. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to know of this, he forbade burying anyone in the grave at night until his funeral prayer has been offered, except in case of necessity.
