Hadith 15264

(حديث قدسي) حَدَّثَنَا عَتَّابُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ , حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ , حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " إِنَّمَا الصِّيَامُ جُنَّةٌ , يَسْتَجِنُّ بِهَا الْعَبْدُ مِنَ النَّارِ , هُوَ لِي وَأَنَا أَجْزِي بِهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Fasting is a shield by which a person protects himself from Hell, and fasting is especially for Me, therefore I alone will give its reward.
