Hadith 15261

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ , عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ , عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ , قَالَ : كَانَ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ صُوَرٌ , " فَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ أَنْ يَمْحُوَهَا , فَبَلَّ عُمَرُ ثَوْبًا وَمَحَاهَا بِهِ , فَدَخَلَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , وَمَا فِيهَا مِنْهَا شَيْءٌ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered Sayyiduna Umar at the time of the conquest of Makkah to go to the Ka'bah and erase all the pictures present in it, and he did not enter the Ka'bah until all the pictures in it had been erased.
