Musnad Ahmad

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: At night when you go to sleep, close the doors, cover the vessels, extinguish the lamps, and tie the mouths of the water skins, because Satan cannot open a closed door, cannot remove a cover, and cannot untie a knot. And sometimes a mouse becomes the cause of burning down the whole house. And when the sun sets, do not let your animals and children go out of the houses until the darkness of the night has passed, because when the sun sets, the devils descend until the darkness of the night has passed.
