Hadith 15196

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَسْوَدُ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ , عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ , عَنْ عَطَاءٍ , عَنْ جَابِرٍ " أَنَّ رَجُلًا دَبَّرَ عَبْدًا لَهُ وَعَلَيْهِ دَيْنٌ , فَبَاعَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي دَيْنِ مَوْلَاهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man made his slave a *mudabbar* (one who is to be freed after the master's death), and that man himself was in debt. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sold the *mudabbar* slave in order to pay off his master's debt.
