Hadith 15186

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجٌ , حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ , عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , قَالَ : دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلَى بَعْضِ أَهْلِهِ , فَقَالَ : " هَلْ عِنْدَكُمْ مِنْ إِدَامٍ ؟ " ، فَقَالُوا : لَا , إِلَّا شَيْءٌ مِنْ خَلٍّ , فَقَالَ : " هَلُمُّوا " ، فَجَعَلَ يَصْطَبِغُ بِهِ , وَيَقُولُ : " نِعْمَ الْإِدَامُ الْخَلُّ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked his family to bring some curry. They said, "We have nothing except vinegar." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) had it brought and ate it, and said: "Vinegar is the best curry."
