Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) reports that once the people of Kufa complained to Sayyiduna Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) about Sayyiduna Sa’d (may Allah be pleased with him), saying that he does not lead the prayer properly. Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) asked him, and he replied, “I make the first two rak’ahs relatively long and the last two rak’ahs short, and in following the prayers I performed behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), I do not fall short in any way.” Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, “That is exactly what I expected from you.”
