Hadith 1516

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that once we were traveling somewhere with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). On the way, we passed by the mosque of Banu Mu’awiyah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) entered this mosque and offered two rak’ahs of prayer. We also performed this prayer with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). After that, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) made a long supplication, and after finishing, he said: “I asked my Lord for three things. One request I made was that my Ummah not be destroyed by drowning in the sea; Allah accepted this request of mine. The second request I made was that my Ummah not be destroyed by famine; Allah also accepted this request of mine. And the third request I made was that my Ummah not fight among themselves, but Allah did not grant this supplication.”
