Abdullah bin Ubaid says that once some companions of the Prophet (peace be upon him) came to Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him). He presented cotton and vinegar before them and said, "Eat, for I heard the Prophet (peace be upon him) say that vinegar is the best condiment." It is destructive for a person that his brothers come to him and he considers it beneath himself to present to them whatever is available in his house. And it is also destructive for people that they consider whatever is presented before them as insignificant.
