Hadith 14974

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ أَبُو حُمَيْدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيُّ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِقَدَحٍ فِيهِ لَبَنٌ يَحْمِلُهُ مَكْشُوفًا ، فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَلَا كُنْتَ خَمَّرْتَهُ وَلَوْ بِعُودٍ تَعْرِضُهُ عَلَيْهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once Abu Humayd brought milk in a vessel to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) early in the morning. The Prophet said: Why did you not cover it, even if only with a piece of wood?
