Hadith 14972

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ أَبِي رَبَاحٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : " بَلَغَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ أَعْتَقَ عَبْدًا لَهُ عَنْ دُبُرٍ ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ مَالٌ غَيْرُهُ ، فَبَاعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعَبْدَ بِثَمَانِ مِائَةٍ ، وَدَفَعَهُ إِلَى مَوَالِيهِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to know that one of his companions had freed his mudabbar slave, and besides him, he had no other wealth. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sold that slave for eight hundred dirhams and handed him over to his master.
