Hadith 14926

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْمُتَوَكِّلِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ " أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا لَا يَضَعُونَ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فِي الطَّعَامِ ، حَتَّى يَكُونَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ هُوَ يَبْدَأُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that it was the habit of the Companions that they would not extend their hands before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) began.
