(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَهُ لِبَعْضِ حَاجَتِهِ ، قَالَ : فَجَاءَ وَالنَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى رَاحِلَتِهِ ، قَالَ : فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ فَسَكَتَ ، فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ فَسَكَتَ ، فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ فَسَكَتَ ، ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ لَهُ لَمَّا فَرَغَ : " إِنَّهُ لَمْ يَمْنَعْنِي أَنْ أَرُدَّ عَلَيْكَ ، إِلَّا أَنِّي كُنْتُ أُصَلِّي " ، قَالَ : فَصَلَّى حَيْثُ تَوَجَّهَتْ بِهِ رَاحِلَتُهُ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me on an errand while he was going towards Banu Mustaliq. When I returned, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was praying on his camel. I wanted to speak, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured with his hand. This happened twice. Then I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) reciting (Qur'an), and he was indicating with his head. After finishing the prayer, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "What happened to the task for which I sent you?" I did not reply because I was praying.
