Hadith 14902

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : ذَبَحْنَا يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ الْخَيْلَ ، وَالْبِغَالَ ، وَالْحَمِيرَ " فَنَهَانَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْبِغَالِ وَالْحَمِيرِ ، وَلَمْ يَنْهَ عَنِ الْخَيْلِ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the time of the Battle of Khaybar, we ate the meat of horses, mules, and donkeys, and the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) forbade (the meat of) mules and domesticated donkeys, but he did not forbid (the meat of) horses.
