(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلِيمُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مِينَاءَ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ ، كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ ابْتَنَى دَارًا فَأَكْمَلَهَا وَأَحْسَنَهَا ، إِلَّا مَوْضِعَ لَبِنَةٍ ، فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَدْخُلُونَهَا وَيَعْجَبُونَ ، وَيَقُولُونَ : لَوْلَا مَوْضِعُ اللَّبِنَةِ " ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " فَأَنَا مَوْضِعُ اللَّبِنَةِ جِئْتُ فَخَتَمْتُ الْأَنْبِيَاءَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: My example and the example of the other prophets is like that of a man who built a house and completed it and made it beautiful, but left the place of one brick. People would enter that house and admire it and say, "If only this one brick had not been left, the building would have been complete." I am that place of the brick; I have come and thus completed the succession of the noble prophets.
