(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلِيمُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ مِينَاءَ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ الْأَنْبِيَاءِ ، كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ أَوْقَدَ نَارًا ، فَجَعَلَ الْفَرَاشُ وَالْجَنَادِبُ يَقَعْنَ فِيهَا ، قَالَ : " وَهُوَ يَذُبُّهُنَّ عَنْهَا " ، قَالَ : " وَأَنَا آخِذٌ بِحُجَزِكُمْ عَنِ النَّارِ ، وَأَنْتُمْ تَفَلَّتُونَ مِنْ يَدِي " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: The example of me and the other prophets is like that of a man who kindles a fire, and moths and butterflies begin to fall into it, and he tries to keep them away from it. In the same way, I am holding you by your waist to save you from Hell, but you keep slipping from my hands.
