(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنِ ابْنِ إِسْحَاقَ ، حَدَّثَنِي دَاوُدُ بْنُ الْحُصَيْنِ مَوْلَى عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ وَاقِدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِذَا خَطَبَ أَحَدُكُمْ الْمَرْأَةَ ، فَقَدِرَ أَنْ يَرَى مِنْهَا بَعْضَ مَا يَدْعُوهُ إِلَيْهَا ، فَلْيَفْعَلْ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that I heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say: When one of you sends a proposal of marriage to a woman, and it is possible for him to see in her that quality because of which he wishes to marry her, then he should do so.
