Hadith 14804

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the year of Ji‘irrana, I was with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when he was distributing silver among the people, which was placed in the garment of Sayyiduna Bilal. A man said, "O Messenger of Allah! Be just." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Woe to you! If I am not just, then who will be just? If I do not act justly, then I would be at a loss." Sayyiduna ‘Umar said, "O Messenger of Allah! Allow me to strike the neck of this hypocrite." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I seek refuge with Allah that people should start saying that I kill my companions. And his companions will recite the Qur'an, but it will not go beyond their throats, and these people will go out of the religion just as an arrow passes out of the hunted prey."
