Hadith 14745

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ جَابِرًا ، عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يُوتِرُ عِشَاءً ثُمَّ يَرْقُدُ ، قَالَ جَابِرٌ : سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ خَافَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ لَا يَقُومَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ، فَلْيُوتِرْ ثُمَّ لِيَرْقُدْ ، وَمَنْ طَمِعَ مِنْكُم الْقِيَامَ ، فَلْيُوتِرْ مِنْ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ ، فَإِنَّ قِرَاءَةَ آخِرِ اللَّيْلِ مَحْضُورَةٌ ، وَذَلِكَ أَفْضَلُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Whoever among you thinks that he may not be able to wake up in the last part of the night, he should offer Witr in the first part of the night. And whoever thinks that he will be able to wake up in the last part of the night, he should offer Witr at the end, because during the time of prayer in the last part of the night, the angels are present, and this is the best way.
