Hadith 14713

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " لَمْ يَكُنْ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَغْزُو فِي الشَّهْرِ الْحَرَامِ ، إِلَّا أَنْ يُغْزَى ، أَوْ يُغْزَوْا ، فَإِذَا حَضَرَهُ أَقَامَ حَتَّى يَنْسَلِخَ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would not engage in jihad in the Sacred City except if war was imposed by others. Otherwise, when the sacred months began, he would refrain until they ended.
