Hadith 14708

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ، حَدَّثَنِي فُلَيْحُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْمَدَنِيُّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَى قَوْمًا مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يَعُودُ مَرِيضًا ، فَاسْتَسْقَاهُمْ ، وَجَدْوَلٌ قَرِيبٌ مِنْهُ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنْ كَانَ عِنْدَهُمْ مَاءٌ قَدْ بَاتَ فِي شَنٍّ ، وَإِلَّا كَرَعْنَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went to the house of an Ansari to visit him during his illness. Nearby, a small stream was flowing. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) asked him for water to drink and said: "If you have water left over from the night in this vessel, then that is fine; otherwise, we will drink directly (from the stream)."
