Abu al-Zubair says that I asked Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) about the lizard: so he informed that once a lizard was brought to him, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: I do not eat it, rather the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) felt aversion to it. Sayyiduna Umar says that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not declare it unlawful, therefore Allah benefits many people through it, and it is generally the food of shepherds, and if I had a lizard, I would eat it.
