Hadith 14676

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، أَنَّهُمْ غَزَوْا غَزْوَةً فِيمَا بَيْنَ مَكَّةَ ، وَالْمَدِينَةِ ، فَهَاجَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحٌ شَدِيدَةٌ ، حَتَّى دَفَعَتِ الرِّحَالَ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هَذَا لِمَوْتِ الْمُنَافِقِ " ، فَرَجَعْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ ، فَوَجَدْنَاهُ مُنَافِقًا عَظِيمَ ، النِّفَاقِ قَدْ مَاتَ .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that once, while the companions were participating in a jihad between Makkah and Madinah, a windstorm suddenly arose so strong that it carried away several people. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "This is a sign of the death of a hypocrite." When we reached Madinah, it was found that indeed a very prominent hypocrite had died.
