Abu al-Zubair says that I asked Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) whether he had heard the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) say anything about frequently walking towards the mosque. He replied: Once we intended to move closer to the mosque. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) learned of this, he strictly forbade us and said: Do not empty Madinah, for every step you take towards the mosque, you receive one degree of virtue more than those who live near it.
