It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a man came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "So-and-so has a fruit-bearing tree in my garden. He has caused me so much trouble that because of this one tree, I am greatly distressed." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) called that man and said, "Sell me the tree you have in so-and-so's garden." He refused. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Gift it to me." He again refused. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "Then sell it in exchange for a tree in Paradise." He again refused. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "I have not seen anyone more miserly than you, except the one who is miserly in greeting (salaam)."
