Hadith 14427

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ . ح وَعَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الْخَفَّافُ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مِقْسَمٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : مَرَّتْ بِنَا جِنَازَةٌ ، فَقَامَ لَهَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَقُمْنَا مَعَهُ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّهَا جِنَازَةُ يَهُودِيٍّ ! قَالَ : " إِنَّ الْمَوْتَ فَزَعٌ ، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ الْجِنَازَةَ ، فَقُومُوا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that a funeral passed by the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so he stood up and we also stood up. I said: O Messenger of Allah! This is the funeral of a Jew. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Death is a distressing matter, so whenever you see a funeral, stand up.
