Ibn Abi Najih says that once I asked Tawus, if a person, while stoning the Jamarat, throws six pebbles at a Jamrah instead of seven, what is the ruling? He said that he should give charity equal to a handful of wheat. After that, I met Mujahid and asked him the same question and also mentioned Tawus's answer. He said, "May Allah have mercy on them, have they not heard this hadith of Sayyiduna Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him) that in the Hajj we performed with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), after stoning the Jamarat, when we sat down and started talking among ourselves, someone said, 'I threw six pebbles,' someone said, 'seven,' someone said, 'eight,' and someone said, 'nine,' but he (the Prophet) did not consider there to be any harm in it."
