(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ . ح وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الرُّقَى ، قَالَ ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ فِي حَدِيثِهِ : فَأَتَاهُ خَالِي وَكَانَ يَرْقِي مِنَ الْعَقْرَبِ ، قَالَ : فَجَاءَ آلُ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَزْمٍ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنَّهُ قَدْ كَانَتْ عِنْدَنَا رُقْيَةٌ نَرْقِي بِهَا مِنَ الْعَقْرَبِ ، وَإِنَّكَ نَهَيْتَ عَنِ الرُّقَى ، قَالَ : فَعَرَضُوهَا عَلَيْهِ ، فَقَالَ : " مَا أَرَى بَأْسًا ، مَنْ اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْكُمْ أَنْ يَنْفَعَ أَخَاهُ فَلْيَنْفَعْهُ " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade treatment through incantations (mantras). In another chain of narration, there is this addition: My maternal uncle used to treat scorpion stings with incantations. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prohibited incantations and blowing (over someone), the family of Amr bin Hazm came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Messenger of Allah! You have forbidden incantations, and I treat scorpion stings with incantations?" And he presented it before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said, "There is no harm in it. Whoever can benefit his brother should do so."
