Hadith 14352

(حديث مرفوع) حَدَّثَنَا حَسَنٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا نُخَابِرُ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَنُصِيبُ مِنَ الْبُسْرِ ، وَمِنْ كَذَا ، فَقَالَ : " مَنْ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَرْضٌ فَلْيَزْرَعْهَا ، أَوْ لِيُحْرِثْهَا أَخَاهُ ، وَإِلَّا فَلْيَدَعْهَا " .
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that during the blessed era of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), we used to give land on sharecropping, from which we would get unripe and other dates, but the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said that whoever has land should cultivate it himself or allow his brother to do so, otherwise he should leave it (and not give it on rent).
